The medieval village was built in Glen Nevis, when Hollywood came to Fort William to film Mel Gibson's 'Braveheart'.
The film received better reviews for drama and spectacle than for historical accuracy. I enjoyed it, and it brought much needed employment to Fort William. The town has continued to attract the film industry, ensuring that this success was not a one-off.
My wife was disappointed that we didn't see Mel Gibson on the set. I would have preferred to see Sophie Marceau.
