Dunluce Castle
Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland, 1987

Although the oldest surviving parts of Dunluce Castle are only about 500 years old, there is evidence that the site has been fortified for much longer.

The hexagonal lines of some of the castle's stones indicate their origin at the nearby Giant's Causeway, and the MacDonnels were quick to make use of cannon and other material from the Spanish Armada ship Girona, which was wrecked nearby.
