I spent the night close to the chambered tombs at Cairnholy, hoping to take a photograph of comet NEOWISE above the stones, but the sky remained cloudy. I consoled myself by ‘painting’ the stones with torchlight, ensuring that I didn’t illuminate the unsightly poles and cables which spoil this view in daylight.
