Red Squirrel 6158

This red squirrel triggered the camera for a single exposure at a precise moment by breaking a light beam as it jumped between two branches on its regular route to a feeder box in my garden. I hired a tilt/shift lens for my ‘squirrels in flight’ project. This lens allows the squirrel to be photographed from a more oblique angle, while allowing the plane of sharp focus to be positioned along the squirrel’s direction of travel. Both squirrel and background were illuminated by a very brief flash of light from adapted flashguns.
