Red Squirrel 6961

I’m not an enthusiast for the ‘machine-gun’ approach to photography, in which the camera’s shutter is continuously fired at a rate of many frames per second, but I made an exception for this image. The squirrel ran through the very narrow plane of sharp focus of a cheap and cheerful ‘nifty fifty’ lens, with its aperture almost wide open, and I discarded all but the single frame in which the squirrel’s eye is acceptably sharp.
