Red Squirrel 7890

Red squirrels continue to forage for nuts, fungi and fruit during inclement weather. This squirrel was preparing to leap from a dead oak bough, following a regular route to a cleft in a tree where I had placed a single hazel nut. It paused briefly with a swish of its tail because of the presence of another squirrel. I was standing several metres away wearing muted coloured waterproofs, and with the camera on a sturdy tripod with a gimbal head.
