Hunter's Moon

When the Moon is full, as seen from Earth, craters and other surface objects don’t show up well without the shadows which would be cast at other phases. The prominent bright crater close to the southern edge is Tycho Crater. It’s no bigger than many other craters, but its relative youth - thought to be about 100 million years old – hasn’t allowed sufficient time for it to darken as much as craters aged billions of years.
